Bananas in danger

Bananas in Uganda and most other countries are in danger to be radically reduced or eliminated by the bacteria banana Xanthomonas wilt. In countries as Uganda, the banana is not only one of the main staple foods – it is also an important part of the culture and traditions.

Ugandan researchers have now done research on how to make the bananas resistant to the disease by introducing some resistance from sweet pepper. This has given promising results, but there is still some work to put it into practice.
